The Belleville Historic Preservation Commission announces the City’s second annual Historic Preservation Awards program. The awards are designed to honor individuals, organizations, projects and programs whose work demonstrates a commitment to excellence in historic preservation. We hope to inspire others to take action to preserve, protect, and promote our historic resources. Eight categories of awards are available for nomination under the new program. Categories include Adaptive Use/Rehabilitation; Advocacy; Education; Lifetime Achievement; New Construction; Leadership; Restoration; and Stewardship. Award nominations, due in April, will be reviewed by Commission members who are selected for their representation from various professional preservation disciplines throughout the community. To determine Historic Preservation Award winners, the Commission will consider impact on the community; quality and degree of difficulty of the project, effort, or action; and the degree to which the project or nominee serves as an example of excellence in historic preservation and influences others. Those interested in submitting a nomination should review the nomination forms below. The deadline for nominiations is April 10, 2009. Winners will be honored during an Awards Ceremony in May, which is National Preservation Month. |
