Belleville Historic Preservation Commission
Formed in 1972 by City Ordinance

The Belleville Historic Preservation Commission integrates preservation principles into all community-wide planning efforts.  The Commission is focused on the enhancement and perpetuation of Belleville's historic neighborhoods, business districts and landmark buildings.

Belleville contains many structures and areas that embody a sense of time and place unique to Belleville and which exemplify and reflect the cultural, social, economic, political or architectural history, not only of the area, but of the State of Illinois and the nation as well. The protection of the historic and architectural character and resources of Belleville is necessary for the promotion of our economic development.
